Choose the boundaries
- Daily and overall loss settings appropriate to the account.
- Position sizing and exposure limits.
- Sessions, cooldowns and permitted trading windows.
- News buffers consistent with the firm’s restrictions.
Check the definitions, not just the numbers
Firms can calculate drawdown differently. The reset time, equity or balance basis, treatment of floating losses and permission to hold positions around news all affect the configuration. Confirm the current terms directly with your firm and test the settings.
